I want to talk about something that is absolutely necessary, non-negotiable, and an obligatory responsibility in the life of a Christian—something some believers often take lightly: prayer.
As a born-again, Spirit-filled child of the Most High God, you cannot neglect prayer in your daily life. It must become a vital part of your everyday routine. God designed us in such a way that we need to pray. He wants our faith and trust to be completely reliant on Him alone.
The Scriptures declare:
“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
— Jeremiah 17:5 (KJV)
“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”
— Psalm 146:3 (KJV)
God does not want us to consider men as our source. The only reason men can help you is because of the grace of God at work in them—not “luck” as some may call it. He doesn’t even want us to trust in ourselves, because He alone is our source, and nothing can take His place.
“But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:9 (KJV)
That is why we must pray always—especially when things around us aren’t going as expected. Prayer is an expression of faith in God, a display of our trust in His ability, and a mark of humility that acknowledges our total dependence on Him.
There are times when we face challenges we know how to handle, but there are also situations beyond our control. What do you do then? You pray!
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”
— Philippians 4:6 (AMPC)
As God’s children, challenges are not meant for our defeat—they are meant for our growth. God expects us to win! He expects us to demonstrate our faith. When you are troubled by worries, anxiety, fear, or confusion, it’s not the time to panic—it’s the time to pray in the Spirit, to speak in tongues, and to declare God’s Word. It’s time to usher in the divine—what I call Combustion Power.
Understanding the Combustion Analogy
Science teaches us that a car moves when fuel and air mix inside the combustion chamber, where the mixture is subjected to intense pressure and ignited to produce heat. This heat is then converted into power—mechanical energy—which enables the car to move.
We can liken this process to prayer.
When you want to move forward in life, when you desire progress or need to overcome obstacles, you must pray in the Spirit. Your challenges, circumstances, pressures, worries, and anxieties are the fuel meant to be combusted in prayer to produce power.
Apply spiritual pressure in prayer until those challenges are transformed into solutions, results, and testimonies.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
— James 5:16 (KJV)
The Amplified Bible puts it this way:
“The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”
— James 5:16 (AMPC)
This means that heartfelt, persistent prayer produces tremendous power—just like combustion in an engine. You must pray continually and passionately until results are manifested. You may take short breaks, but you must persist until you receive your answers.
Operate from Victory
Your challenges are not designed to defeat you. As a child of God, they are stepping stones to greater victories, testimonies, and impact. You must understand that you already operate from a position of victory, because Christ has already died and risen for you. He has provided everything you will ever need.
So, in prayer or declaration, you are not begging God for what is already yours—you are enforcing your birthright.
Whatever it is you desire to change, use your Combustion Power.
Turn that challenge into a testimony!
